Overview of the Eastern Highlands Simbu Mission (EHSM)
The Eastern Highlands Simbu Mission (EHSM) is one of the largest administrative units of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Papua New Guinea. Established in 1953, the Mission serves the Eastern Highlands and Simbu Provinces, coordinating the spiritual, educational, and community outreach work of the Church across this vast territory. Its headquarters is located in Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province, where leadership and staff oversee the growth and development of local congregations and institutions.
The Mission is led by a dedicated team of administrators and directors who provide guidance in areas such as pastoral ministry, evangelism, education, and financial stewardship. Current leadership includes President Solomon Sanu, Secretary Samuel Mollen, and Treasurer Julie Gotaha, supported by departmental directors who ensure that the Mission’s programs remain vibrant and effective. Together, they work to strengthen local churches, empower members, and foster unity across districts.
EHSM is part of the Papua New Guinea Union Mission (PNGUM), which operates under the South Pacific Division (SPD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Mission has experienced remarkable growth, now overseeing more than 313 organized churches and serving a membership of over 160,000 people. With a population base of more than 1.8 million in its territory, the Mission continues to expand its reach, offering hope and practical support to communities through evangelism, education, and health initiatives.
As a spiritual and community hub, the Eastern Highlands Simbu Mission plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Papua New Guinea. Its commitment to faith, service, and education continues to inspire thousands of members and families, making EHSM a cornerstone of Adventist presence in the region.

The Homu Seventh-day Adventist District is committed to impact projects that transform communities across Lufa, Henganofi, and Okapa. These initiatives focus on education, health, livelihood, and infrastructure, addressing real social challenges with practical solutions. By fostering collaboration and empowering families, the projects create lasting change, strengthen resilience, and reflect the church’s mission to serve both spiritual and physical needs. Each project is designed to leave a measurable impact, building stronger, healthier, and more hopeful communities.
The Homu Seventh-day Adventist District conducts annual evangelism crusades as a central mission initiative. These gatherings unite members and communities across Lufa, Henganofi, and Okapa to proclaim the everlasting gospel with power and compassion. More than preaching, the crusades actively address social issues, offering hope, guidance, and practical support to families. They emphasize multiplying discipleship, equipping believers to share their faith and serve others in daily life. Above all, the crusades are dedicated to preparing souls for the Kingdom of God, fostering spiritual renewal, strengthening unity, and inspiring a movement of faith that transforms both individuals and communities.
